Jimmy Vereen

ILB Coach

Coach Vereen joined the Wildcats in 2021 with a wealth of coaching experience, most recently as the Head Football Coach for five years at Creek Bridge High School in Marion, SC. In his hometown of Mullins, SC, he spent 35 years as the defensive coach for varsity football and was the JV football coach for three years. Over the years, he also spent time in multiple coaching capacities for both girls and boys basketball at the JV and varsity levels. When he's not coaching, Coach Vereen enjoys action movies, Scrabble, or traveling and eating with his family (especially his favorites, fish and shrimp).

Defensive Line Coach​

 

After nine years at TC Williams High School in northern Virginia, Coach Cortright began coaching football at Millbrook in 2017. In addition to being the defensive line coach for football, he's the head women's basketball coach. Originally from western New York, Coach Cortright moved to Virginia in 2005, then farther south to North Carolina in 2013. He's been a PE teacher for 16 years, and served in the United States Navy as a Seabee for eight years. When he's not  coaching, he enjoys time with his daughter Ava, son Daniel, and wife Catherine, who is also a teacher at Millbrook.

Hunter Jenks

Offensive Coordinator / Line Coach​

 

​With 15 years of coaching experience, Coach Jenks has a 42-25 record as a head coach, including conference championships at South Johnston and Clayton. Twice named Coach of the Year, he had 40 players hit the gridiron in college in six years of head coaching. Originally from Wake Forest, he played offensive line as a student at Elon. When he's not coaching, he enjoys time with his family: wife, Betsy, and daughters, Ava and Claire.

Assistant Coach​

 

​Coach Newby begain coaching in 2006, and joined the staff at Millbrook in 2019. After graduating from Central Oklahoma University, he moved to Raleigh where he met and married Melissa. Together they have two boys, Bennett and Nash. When he's not coaching, Coach Newby loves being with his friends and family, as well as watching sports, playing golf, and grilling out.

Justin Pretzel

Defensive Coach​

A 2002 graduate of Millbrook, Coach Pretzel started coaching high school football in 2019. Originally from Raleigh, he enjoys playing sports and being outdoors. Even his favorite movie is football-related: Rudy.
